Mentoring
Great careers grow through great connections
A new perspective to guide you forward
Sometimes a conversation with someone who sees things differently can provide clarity, perspective and a sense of direction. The ATEM Mentoring Program connects people from across tertiary education and creates opportunities to share experiences, challenge thinking and explore what’s possible, next.
What makes it special?
You’ll form connections beyond your own organisation. You’ll gain a fresh perspective from someone who understands the sector but brings a different experience of working in it.
Whether you’re finding your feet, navigating challenges in your role, considering your next career move or keen to share what you’ve learned along the way, mentoring can open doors you didn’t know were there.
Two people.
Different perspectives. Shared learning.
As a mentee you’ll have someone in your corner to help you work through challenges, explore opportunities and think differently about your career.
As a mentor you’ll share your experience, ask thoughtful questions to help your mentee explore their own way forward. You’ll also gain fresh insights yourself and your professional practice — great mentoring works both ways.

How our mentoring program works
We thoughtfully match you with a mentoring partner from another organisation, based on your experience and professional interests. You’ll set your own goals and shape the conversations around what matters most to you. The program includes:
- An online induction to get you started
- Regular mentoring conversations over approximately six months
- Workshops and resources to support you along the way
Start dates and application details
The program is free for individual ATEM members (subject to availability).
Our 2027 Mentoring Program will open early next year. Program dates and application details will be shared soon – bookmark this webpage to stay updated.
